ISO 3834

Welding processes are used in various industries. In engineering (vehicles, agricultural equipment, pressure vessels,…), in construction (steel structures, bridges,…) and partly in other industries (eg metallurgy, energy, manufacturing).

The quality of the welding processes cannot be easily verified, therefore, they are considered as special processes, as stated by ISO 9001. A series of standards ISO 3834 does not replace ISO 9001, but it is a tool to use for the welding process. Emphasis is placed on the qualifications of the staff, equipment used, procedures and records of welding.

The ISO 3834 series of standards provides guidance on establishing and maintaining an effective quality management system for the fusion welding of metallic materials.

Certification is conducted in conjunction with the ISO 9001 standard. A certified organization is authorized to use the certification mark.
